How to install and use a Driver Test settings file
In the process of debugging your MK3 BASSBOSS Loudspeaker, we may ask you to load a "Driver Test" file to ensure both woofers are receiving signal and working properly. This document contains instructions on how to install and perform the test.
Steps to Install the Driver Test File
- Locate the appropriate Driver Test .ffi file for the speaker you wish to test
- Download the .ffi file somewhere on your computer
- Connect your MK3 BASSBOSS Loudspeaker to your Mac or PC via a Cat5 (Ethernet) cable
- Power on your MK3 Loudspeaker
- Open up BASSBOSS ControlBASS
- Wait for the speaker to appear in the Control Center software window
- Click the green arrow to the right of the displayed IP address to open the Device Window
- Click “Hardware” then “Enter Password” Type IamBOSS and hit enter
- Click "File" and select "Load Factory Settings"(A warning will appear stating that all the presets in the unit will be updated)
- Select the .ffi file you just downloaded
- The process will start by erasing the old data and then will display numbers of “packets” being loaded. Do not interrupt this process until the “Finished” box appears.
- Once the finished box appears, cycle through each of the presets according to the instructions for your box below (you can use the preset button on the rear of your box to cycle presets, or change presets in ControlBASS by selecting the desired preset from the preset drop down menu and clicking "Engage Preset"
- Once you have completed the driver test, load the latest version of the firmware for your box to restore it to normal operation: https://drive.bassboss.com/external/folder/2wzyx2a7ca7a24e0a4689bbfc8f6c6387bd15
For Single Driver Subs (BB15, DJ18S, SSP118 and VS21):
Preset 1 boots up with the box muted.
Preset 2 outputs a 1kHz tone coming out of the woofer.
- Ensure audio plays from Preset 2. If you have multiple boxes, you can load the Driver Test ffi on each box. Ensure the level from each box is the same.
For Double Driver Subs (Makara, SSP215, SSP218, Makara, and ZV28):
- Preset 1 boots up with the box muted.
- Preset 2 outputs a 1kHz tone coming out of the first woofer.
- Preset 3 outputs a 1kHz tone coming out of the second woofer.
- Preset 4 outputs a 1kHz tone coming out of both woofers.
- Ensure audio plays from both Preset 2 and 3 at approximately the same level.
For 2-Way Tops (AT212, CCM12, DiaMon, DiaMon, MFLA):
- Preset 1 boots up with the box muted.
- Preset 2 outputs 1kHz tone from the woofer(s) (if there are more than one woofers, as in the AT212 or MFLA, ensure sound comes out of each woofer by putting your ear close to each).
- Preset 3 outputs a 1kHz tone from the tweeter(s). If there are more than one tweeter (such as in the MFLA), ensure sound comes out of each tweeter by putting your ear close to each).
- Preset 4 outputs a 1kHz tone from both the woofer(s) and tweeter(s).
- Ensure audio plays from both Preset 2 and 3, and that all drivers are outputting a clean tone. Note the volume between preset 2 and 3 will differ due to the sensitivities of each driver differing.
For the AT312:
Preset 1 boots up with the box muted.
Preset 2 outputs a 1kHz tone coming out of 2x bottom woofers (the low frequency section of the box)
- Preset 3 outputs a 1kHz tone coming out of the low frequency section of the coaxial (the mid frequency section of the box)
- Preset 4 outputs a 1kHz tone from the tweeter in the coaxial (the high frequency section of the box)
- Preset 5 outputs 1kHz tone coming out of all drivers
- Ensure audio plays from Preset 2, 3, and 4, and that all drivers are outputting a clean tone. Note the volume between these presets will differ due to the sensitivities of each driver differing.
For the Sublim8:
- Preset 1 boots up with the box muted.
- Preset 2 outputs a 1kHz tone from the subwoofer (the low frequency section of the box)
- Preset 3 outputs a 1kHz tone from the 2x8" drivers (the mid frequency section of the box) - ensure audio is coming out of each woofer (you can place your ear next to each of the two woofers to ensure they are both working properly)
- Preset 4 outputs a 1kHz tone from the tweeter (the high frequency section of the box)
- Preset 5 outputs 1kHz tone from all drivers
- Ensure audio plays from both Preset 2, 3, and 4, and that all drivers are outputting a clean tone. Note the volume between these presets will differ due to the sensitivities of each driver differing.
For the Krakatoa:
Preset 1 boots up with the box muted.
Preset 2 outputs a 1kHz tone from the 4x 18" LF woofers around the edges of the box. Place your ear near each grille and ensure a tone is coming out of each of the four woofers.
- Preset 3 outputs a 1kHz tone from the low frequency section of the triaxial.
- Preset 4 outputs a 1kHz tone from the mid frequency section of the triaxial.
- Preset 5 outputs a 1kHz tone from the high frequency section of the triaxial.
- Preset 6 outputs a 1kHz tone from all drivers in the box
- Ensure audio plays Presets 2-5. Note the volume may differ - Preset 2 will likely be louder as there are four woofers playing together.
