The red "protect" light on my BASSBOSS Loudspeaker comes on

The red "protect" light on the back of your BASSBOSS loudspeaker is programmed to come on in several scenarios:
  1. The output of the amplifier is muted in ControlBASS
  2. The wiring harness is causing a short circuit
  3. The amplifier module is shutting down to protect the circuitry in the case of extreme use or a malfunction.  There are several protection triggers from the amplifier module that can cause it to enter this mode:
    1. DC Protection
    2. HF Protection
    3. Temperature
    4. Over Current

While this protect light coming on is exceedingly rare, in virtually all cases it is due to the use of surge suppressors or power conditioners, which can trigger the Over Current protection mode.  If you are experiencing the red "protect" light coming on, especially in combination with the output of the speaker either muted or coming down in volume, it is likely due to a power conditioning device.  Typically surge protection prevents excess voltage, which can cause a high current spike when more power is requested from the amplifier (which will often occur when the volume is turned up past a certain point).  This high current spike can then kick the amplifier into overcurrent protection.

To remedy this, we recommend you test the speaker when not connected to any of these devices to see if this was indeed causing the issue.  If the issue goes away without the surge protector or conditioner, then the speaker is fine and it is the power device that was causing the issue.
