What is the output delay or latency of BASSBOSS MK3 Loudspeakers?

The base output latency for the MK3 series speakers is 0.466ms, which is due to the DSP.  However what people often want to know is what the overall output latency is that includes the filters and physical construction of the box.  It is impossible to answer this question with a single number because the overall response is frequency dependent (filtering will always involves phase changes, and will almost always introduce phase changes that vary based on frequency).

When this question is asked, it is usually so a customer can align their BASSBOSS subs with subs or tops from another manufacturer.  Wo not recommend attempting to align BASSBOSS subs to any other subs using just delay, as this will inevitably align some frequencies and cause cancellations at others.  Without taking a measurement, it is virtually impossible to give an easy answer because the implementations of the filter algorithms likely will differ between BASSBOSS loudspeakers and any other manufacturer's loudspeakers, let alone the way the physical construction of the box affects the resulting phase. Rather, one should take a measurement and then use the tools at their disposal to choose settings that suit one's application and purpose.  Programs that can help with this are SMAART and REW (Room EQ Wizard), the latter of which is free.  Here, allpass filters can be a good option for aligning the phase trances of each box, but not everyone has gear that can implement this.   A measurement mic isn't necessary because what matters is the relative phase between different boxes, so a simple vocal mic will do.  We've seen customers have good success when taking the time to do this.

We've spent a lot of time making sure all BASSBOSS subs are phase and time aligned with one another across the spectrum.  However, when it comes to how this alignment interacts with boxes from other manufacturers it can be a real wildcard.  In our experience, pairing BASSBOSS speakers with loudspeakers from another company can create more problems than it solves, unless one is willing to take measurements.

In the future, we may offer a service where we measure and create presets for different boxes, especially those that are highly requested.  Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter for more information.
