Why doesn't BASSBOSS use foam on your grilles?

Q: Why doesn't BASSBOSS use foam on your grilles?

A: We've found over many years that foam introduces more problems than it alleviates, so we do not use it for the following reasons:
  1. Foam on the grille causes noise when the cabinet is used at high output.
  2. With the amount of air flow these cabinets can generate, the foam in front of the ports gets shredded quickly.
  3. Foam always deteriorates and looks ratty long before steel, wood and drivers do, so products without foam look tidy for much longer.
  4. Foam captures dust in front of the ports and drivers, making the cabinet look dirty and requiring more cleaning.
  5. There has never been a case of drivers failing due to debris entering via the grille holes.
  6. We prioritize sound quality and performance over the intrusion of dust. :)
BASSBOSS products are intended to be used for decades. All the components are chosen for their performance and long term reliability. Foam doesn't fit the bill for this long-term goal.
