Q: Why doesn't BASSBOSS use foam on your grilles?
A: We've found over many years that foam introduces more problems than it alleviates, so we do not use it for the following reasons:
- Foam on the grille causes noise when the cabinet is used at high output.
- With the amount of air flow these cabinets can generate, the foam in front of the ports gets shredded quickly.
- Foam always deteriorates and looks ratty long before steel, wood and drivers do, so products without foam look tidy for much longer.
- Foam captures dust in front of the ports and drivers, making the cabinet look dirty and requiring more cleaning.
- There has never been a case of drivers failing due to debris entering via the grille holes.
- We prioritize sound quality and performance over the intrusion of dust. :)
BASSBOSS products are intended to be used for decades. All the components are chosen for their performance and long term reliability. Foam doesn't fit the bill for this long-term goal.
