Quick Notes

1. Be sure to follow all relevant safety protocols in your area.  If you are unsure how to properly operate a generator, hire a qualified electrician
   
2. We recommend an Inverter Generator because it provides a much more stable power source for the peaks of dynamic music.
3. Subwoofers tend to draw more current (and power) than tops for a variety of reasons.
   
4. Be sure to distribute your power across allocated circuits (not every outlet is its own circuit)
5. When in doubt, use a power meter on your rig when playing at maximum output to determine the right size generator of all your gear together, like a Kill-A-Watt Meter
   

How Big of a Generator do I need?

Minimum-Size Generator:

1. The minimum size generator you need is one that can deliver the nominal current rating of the various loudspeakers you connect (See What is the Power/Current Draw of BASSBOSS MK3 Loudspeakers for information on the nominal current rating for each loudspeaker)
   
2. We recommend using a generator that provides an overhead of 20% to account for surges and avoid brownouts/voltage sags.
   
3. For instance, if you wanted to run 2x AT212's and 2x VS21's, you would want to find a generator that could deliver 2*(4.6A) + 2*(4.6A) = 18.4A at 120V. 
   
1. This means at minimum you should choose a generator that can deliver 18.4A * 120V = 2208W reliably.
   
2. Factoring in a 20% overhead, you should be looking at a generator that can deliver at least 1.2*18.4A = 22.08A at 120V, or 2650W, reliably
   
3. A Honda EU3000iS, which is rated at 2800W (23.3A), would be up for the job, and could run for almost 7 hours
   

Maximum Output

1. Because generators do not draw from the grid, the voltage of the generator can sag during large transients, causing a brownout
   
2. This can cause electronic devices like mixers and electronic devices to detect under-voltage conditions and shut off
3. If you want the maximum output from your BASSBOSS loudspeakers, you should use a generator that can provide the total rated power of all of your subwoofers (the power draw of the tops is often negligible in comparison, so as long as you have an equal number of subs and tops (or less tops) calculate the rated power with respect to your subs)

5. For instance, if you were running 2x AT212's and 2x VS21's, you would want to find a generator that can deliver 2*2500W = 5000W reliably
   
1. The 2500W power comes from the VS21-MK3 row in the "Total Rated Power" column in What is the Power/Current Draw of BASSBOSS MK3 Loudspeakers
   
2.  The Westinghouse iGen8200TFc, which can deliver a rated wattage of 6,600W, would be plenty for this setup
